The Canadian Shield is Alberta’s smallest region, covering only 3 percent of Alberta. It is located in the Northeast corner.

It actually spreads over a large part of Canada, but we have the little piece of it.

It has hard rock called granite, very few plants, and lots of lakes.

The ground is covered in rocks left by glaciers (huge ice sheets from a long time ago).

This area is far away from cities and does not have many buildings or roads. Fort Chipewyan is one of its only settlements and has a population of 800 people.

It is a quiet and natural place!
